Adoption Checklist

What it takes to adopt/ foster

You can adopt or foster a child if you are:

  1. A Ugandan citizen
  2. A non-Ugandan with proof of residence in Uganda and willing to stay for at least 3 years after adopting
  3. 25 years or older, and at least 21 years older than the child you wish to adopt
  4. Married or single (except, single applicants can only adopt children of the same sex as themselves, by law)
  5. Willing to undergo assessment by a Social Worker and Probation Officer
  6. Able to cater for the basic needs of a child

Ugandans Adopt does not charge any fees for the adoption.
